About Kodi Archanai
Kodi Archanai is the sacred offering of one crore (10 million) chants of the Lord's name, performed collectively by devotees as an act of surrender, gratitude and prayer for universal well-being.
In the South Indian temple tradition, archanai is the recitation of the divine names accompanied by the offering of flowers. When a community unites to complete a crore of such recitations, the merit is believed to extend not only to the participants but to the whole world.
At Sabari Ashramam, devotees gather in hourly groups of one hundred. Each group chants under the guidance of the ashramam's acharyas, with the count carefully maintained so that the crore is completed across the two days of the festival.
Devotees observe simple discipline — clean attire, a vegetarian meal, and silence between sessions. Every registered participant receives prasadam and a remembrance of the archanai.
